revelation #1

martians don't have to be things with eyes and ears... who knows, perhaps they have been taking the form of... numbers?

pretty quote

"the fate of an epoch that has eaten of the tree of knowledge is that it must... recognize that general views of life and the universe can never be the products of increasing empirical knowledge, and that the highest ideals, which move us most forcefully, are always formed only in the struggle with other ideals which are just as sacred to others as ours are to us."

got it from david harvey's "the condition of postmodernity", which i find a most stimulating read...

nutty and friends

around a week ago a friend was sharing her experiences of squirrels as a common delicacy in laos. heaps of lifeless squirrels are common in markets. housewives would take out these soft furry corpses bought from the market for comparisons in songtiaw rides. whole squirrel corpses are commonly gored through a stick and sold barbequed on roadsides.

since that conversation with my friend, i seem to be attracting more squirrels than before. over the last three days, seven squirrels have crossed my path (in nus, my estate, and jurong lake). in the past, usually squirrels tend to keep a safe distance away up in the trees. recently in these seven incidents, the squirrels have come into 1-metre vicinity from me, on the ground, and did not hop away as i approach. some of them were actually hopping towards me.

i wonder how long would this nature of encounter with the fluffy denizens last.

wisps and myths

i figured it'd be good to record a part of myself in text and store it somewhere in case i suddenly disappear.

i'm not sure if i'm capable of explaining what inspired me to start writing.

hmm...

(just penned some conceited rubbish of which i promptly deleted.)

i think... now i start to think what i want to write about is... my opinion on the origin of my incapability to explain my source of inspiration. and also... attempt to describe

the seemingly wisp-like "source of inspiration".

at July 2nd 2009 23:56, i was thinking about my source of inspiration. rather coincidentally, elsewhere, someone else was being asked for her source of inspiration. her brief reply: "subconscious".

now - sleepy. zzz...
